The 22nd District Agricultural Association is committed to promoting and protecting the privacy rights of individuals, as enumerated in Article 1 of the California Constitution, the Information Practices Act of 1977, and other state and federal statutes.
It is the policy of the 22nd District Agricultural Association to limit the collection and safeguard the privacy of personal information collected or maintained by the San Diego County Fair and other events directly sponsored by the 22nd District Agricultural Association. The 22nd DAA’s information management practices are consistent with the Information Practices Act (Civil Code Section 1798 et seq.), the Public Records Act (Government Code Section 6250 et seq.), Government Code Sections 11015.5 and 11019.9, and with other applicable laws pertaining to information privacy.
The 22nd District Agricultural Association follows these principles in collecting and managing personal information:
We collect personal information on individuals only as allowed by law. We limit the collection of personal information to what is relevant and necessary to accomplish a lawful purpose of the 22nd District Agricultural Association. For example, we need to know someone’s first name and e-mail address, among other things, to properly maintain our email newsletter.
We do not select and direct mailing or emailings to you unless you request them. We do not collect home, business or e-mail addresses, or account information from persons who browse our Internet sites. We collect personal information about you only if you provide it to us voluntarily through e-mail, registration forms, surveys, or an online job application. In the case of online job applications, all information collected is encrypted.
Personally identifying information includes, but is not limited to, your:

Any combination of information that could identify you: birth date, zip code, gender
Visitors to our website are not required to disclose any personal information. However, to join our email bulletin, enter a contest, apply for a job, or purchase goods, you may need to provide your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, credit card information or other information required to fulfill the desired service or good. Unless otherwise specified, anyone who enters one of our contests is added to our email bulletin mailing list. We may also receive personal information from third parties, such as a ticketing company or ISP. You are able to unsubscribe at any time from any mailing list.
Persons under the age of 13 are not eligible to subscribe to our email bulletin or provide any personal information. We decline to accept information and will delete any information inadvertently collected from anyone under the age of 13.
We tell people who provide personal information to the 22nd District Agricultural Association the purpose for which the information is collected. We tell persons who are asked to provide personal information about the general uses that we will make of that information. We do this at the time of collection. With each request for personal information, we provide information on the authority under which the request is made, the principal uses we make of the information and the possible disclosures we are obligated to make to other government agencies and to the public.
We may ask you periodically to express a preference toward a genre of music or particular entertainer; or, we may conduct surveys or contests to collect demographic or psychographic information. Providing this information is strictly voluntary and helps us develop programming that suits you, our patron. Our website may use IP addresses to determine what pages were viewed, how long the pages were viewed, and other statistics. This information is used only as anonymous aggregate user data to determine whether improvements can be made in our service. For instance, we may keep a total count on the number of people visiting a certain web page, but do not keep personal information on the identity of an individual visitor.
All data we collect is protected against unauthorized access. We use your personal information to craft special offers for our email bulletin and provide a more enjoyable experience at our events or on our web site. We may also use the information we collect to occasionally send you event announcements or special offers that we think you’ll find valuable. The 22nd District Agricultural Association may provide aggregate statistics about our customers to reputable third-party vendors or marketers, but these statistics will include no personally identifying information. The 22nd District Agricultural Association may release personal information in certain narrow circumstances when we believe, in good faith, that such release is reasonably necessary to (i) comply with law, (ii) enforce or apply the terms of any of our user agreements or (iii) protect the rights, property or safety of the San Diego County Fair, our patrons, or others.
We use personal information only for the specified purposes, or purposes consistent with those purposes, unless we get the consent of the subject of the information, or unless required by law or regulation. The Public Records Act exists to ensure that government is open and that the public has a right to have access to appropriate records and information possessed by state government. At the same time, there are exceptions in both state and federal law to the public’s right to access public records. These exceptions serve various needs including maintaining the privacy of individuals. In the event of a conflict between this Policy and the Public Records Act, the Information Practices Act or other law governing the disclosure of records, the applicable law will control.
Please note that any inquiry or correspondence you send to the Del Mar Fairgrounds / 22nd District Agricultural Association becomes a public record and may be subject to disclosure to anyone who asks for it under the state Public Records Act.
At this time, The 22nd District Agricultural Association does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. We may choose to do so in the future, but you can tell us not to do so by sending an e-mail message to email@example.com.
We use information security safeguards. We take reasonable precautions to protect the personal information on individuals collected or maintained by the 22nd District Agricultural Association against loss, unauthorized access, and illegal use or disclosure. Personal information is stored in secure locations. Our staff is trained on procedures for the release of information, and access to personal information is limited to those staff whose work requires it. Confidential information is destroyed according to the 22nd District Agricultural Association records retention schedule. The 22nd District Agricultural Association conducts periodic audits to ensure that proper information management policies and procedures are being followed.
